First time visitors to Las Vegas are often completely over awed by the flashing lights and grand displays that accompany a lot of the gambling that goes on in the city. Very little in Las Vegas is subtle, and none of it is related to gambling on slot machines. The winnings are huge and very publicly announced by all sorts of bells and whistles. The amounts of money that change hands during the course of a short card game are phenomenal. These are the winnings and losses that are never publicised even though the amounts far exceed those that are publicly won. These high rollers are the ones that every casino and hotel hopes to attract on a regular basis. The images of gambling in Las Vegas are tied to both of those areas since the image of well dressed men quietly winning and losing huge sums of money is as common as the bright lights and loud noises of the public winners.
